Army ROTC at Kansas State University develops confident leaders, builds lifelong friendships, and prepares you for success—whether you choose to serve in the U.S. Army or pursue a career in the civilian world.

As a member of the Wildcat Battalion, you'll challenge yourself in the classroom, on the field, and through hands-on leadership experiences while earning your college degree. You'll learn to lead teams, solve problems under pressure, communicate effectively, and make decisions when it matters most.

And you'll do it alongside other driven K-State students who are ready to push themselves and become something more.

Why Army ROTC?

Army ROTC is one of the nation's premier leadership programs—and you don't have to know yet whether the Army is your future.

Students can take Army ROTC courses as college electives and explore the program for up to two years without a military service obligation. Along the way, you'll gain practical leadership experience that can set you apart from your peers in college, the workforce, and beyond.

Army ROTC is designed to complement your college education—not replace it.

You'll pursue the degree you want while developing skills that can give you an advantage after graduation. Whether your goal is to become an Army officer, attend medical school, become an engineer, work in business, pursue a career in law, or enter another profession, the leadership and professional skills developed through ROTC can serve you for a lifetime.

If you decide to become an Army officer, you'll graduate from college prepared to lead Soldiers as a U.S. Army Second Lieutenant.

If you decide the Army isn't for you, the leadership, teamwork, communication, and problem-solving skills you've developed remain yours to take into your civilian career.

You don't have to have your entire future figured out before you start.

Our Cadets aren't defined by one major, one sport, or one background.

They are student-athletes, scholars, entrepreneurs, engineers, scientists, pre-med students, student leaders, and future professionals.

What they have in common is a willingness to challenge themselves, lead others, and become better than they were yesterday.

75% of Army Officers Start Here

Army ROTC is the largest commissioning source for the U.S. Army, producing approximately 75% of the Army's officers.

Since ROTC was established in 1916, more than half a million officers have earned their commissions through the program.

Today, Army ROTC continues that tradition by preparing college students to become the next generation of Army leaders.

Your time in Army ROTC can take you far beyond the classroom.

You'll have opportunities to develop leadership skills, participate in military training, build friendships, compete as part of a team, and take on challenges that most college students never experience.

You may find yourself leading a team, navigating an obstacle course, training in the field, competing in Army competitions, participating in airborne or air assault training, or traveling for military training and professional development.
