Attempted aggravated robbery reported on campus
The Kansas State University Police is investigating an attempted aggravated robbery that occurred around 8 a.m. Sept. 28, in the central part of campus.

Study finds tungsten in aquifer groundwater controlled by pH, oxygen
Two Kansas geologists are helping shed new light on how tungsten metal is leached from the sediment surrounding aquifers into the groundwater. The findings may have implications for human health.

Broken record: University nets best-ever enrollment with 24,581 students
Another enrollment record has fallen at Kansas State University. This fall, 24,581 students make up the largest enrollment in the university's 150-year history.

Kansas State University Bulk Solids Innovation Center to be built in Salina, Kan.
Kansas State University is planning a new facility in Salina, Kan., that will benefit companies that design and utilize systems for bulk solids. Examples of bulk solids are loose, dry commodities or such ingredients as sugar, starch, minerals, chemicals, pigments, fillers, plastic resin and recycled plastics.

Architect team for new College of Business Administration building selected
The architect team of Ebert Mayo/PGAV has been selected for the new College of Business Administration building at Kansas State University. The team was chosen through a national competition conducted this summer.

GROW workshop for middle school girls focuses on disaster response
When a tornado hits or a hurricane strikes, engineers and scientists are among the first on the scene to help return life to normal. To demonstrate to young women the role they can play in such a response, the GROW, or Girls Researching Our World, program at Kansas State University will host "Engineers and Scientists to the Rescue."


Season opener: K-State Theatre's 'columbinus' explores high school tragedy
Kansas State University's 2013-2014 K-State Theatre season will open with "columbinus," a hard-hitting play by Stephen Karam and PJ Paparelli. Performances are at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 10-12 and 17-19 and 2:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the newly named Mark A. Chapman Theatre in Nichols Hall.

Barbara Amoah, Kansas State University doctoral student in entomology from Ghana, has received a 2013 Phi Kappa Phi Love of Learning Award.


Architecture Distinguished Lecture Series presents Thomas Phifer

The College of Architecture, Planning and Design at Kansas State University hosts Thomas Phifer at 4 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the K-State Student Union's Little Theatre. Phifer will present "Current Work" as part of the Architecture Distinguished Lecture Series, which is free and open to the public.

New members elected to KSU Foundation board of directors, board of trustees
Officers and members were elected at the Kansas State University Foundation board of trustees annual meeting in Manhattan on Sept. 13. Twenty-one people were elected to serve four-year terms as trustees of the foundation. This election brings the total number of foundation trustees to 337.
