Acclaimed Broadway drama 'Time Stands Still' opens K-State theatre season

MANHATTAN -- Kansas State University's K-State Theatre will present "Time Stands Still" by Pulitzer Prize-winning playwright Donald Margulies at 7:30 p.m. Oct. 11-13 and 18-20, with a matinee Oct. 21 at 2:30 p.m. All performances are in Nichols Theatre.

"Time Stands Still" is a witty, intellectual look at what happens when ordinary life is altered through the lens of war.

Margulies' Tony Award-nominated play sets a quartet of characters into motion, including Sarah and James, a photojournalist and a foreign correspondent who try to find happiness in a world that seems to have gone crazy. When Sarah, who has spent years dashing between conflict zones, returns home after being injured on the battlefields of Iraq, James makes a pitch to her for domesticity. Sarah must choose between the thrilling but dangerous life she craves and the physically safe but emotionally twisted life she doesn't quite understand.

Dwight Tolar, assistant professor of theatre, is the director for "Time Stands Still." Scenic design is by Kathy Voecks, associate professor of theatre and resident scenic designer.

Tickets can be purchased at the McCain Auditorium box office from 11:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. or by calling McCain at 785-532-6428 during box office hours.
