Italian theatre company brings 'Bleu! The Mediterranean Sea' to McCain Auditorium

Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014

MANHATTAN -- The Mediterranean Sea is coming to Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium with performances by Italy's Compagnia T.P.O., or Teatro di Piazza o d'Occasione.

The company will present "Bleu! The Mediterranean Sea" at 7 p.m. Feb. 19-21; 4 and 7 p.m. Feb. 22; and 2 p.m. Feb. 23.

"Bleu!" is created through the combination of digital imagery and multidisciplinary performance techniques in the use of music, dance, art, sculpture, digital media, computer technology, lighting and sound. Using the children's cheering carpet, a large dance mat able to animate sounds and images through pressure sensors, T.P.O. creates a magic carpet where, through movement and touch, it is possible to explore imaginary gardens creating an environment where art and play can be experienced.

"Bleu!" is ideal for children age 4 and older to teens, parents and grandparents. The audience will be seated onstage, so seating is limited.

Tickets for the "Bleu!" cost $16-$32, plus applicable taxes and fees, and are available now at the McCain Auditorium box office, online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain, or by calling 785-532-6428.
