Expanding opportunities: Engineering career fair now two-day event, 146 employers attending

MANHATTAN -- The opportunity for Kansas State University students to network with more than 140 employers over a two-day period will be offered at the 2013 Engineering Career Fair.

The fair will take place from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Feb. 12 and 13 on the second floor of the K-State Student Union. Companies from the engineering field will visit campus to recruit students for full-time jobs and internships.

This year's fair has 146 companies registered to attend, including Bartlett & West Inc., Black & Veatch, BNSF, Burns & McDonnell, Cargill, Cerner, Garmin, Kansas City Power & Light District, Perceptive Software, Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories, Union Pacific and Westar Energy.

A number of companies will take part in Next Day Interviews on Feb. 13 and 14. This on-campus opportunity allows students to interview for positions with companies they meet at the fair.

Students are strongly encouraged to prepare for the fair by reviewing the Engineering Career Fair LiveBinder at http://www.livebinders.com/play/play?id=472035&backurl=/shelf/my. The LiveBinder has beneficial information for maximizing career fair success, including information on appropriate attire, resume writing, interviewing skills, tips on how to work a career fair and a list of registered companies with a map for the day of the event.

The annual Engineering Career Fair is sponsored by the university's career and employment services, the College of Engineering and the Multicultural Engineering Program.
