Power of Pink: Johnson Cancer Research Center's breast cancer awareness luncheon Oct. 2

Thursday, Aug. 27, 2015

MANHATTAN — Ladies are invited to enjoy lunch with friends as they learn about breast health and cancer at the sixth annual Pink Power Luncheon for breast cancer awareness from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Oct. 2, at Holiday Inn at the Campus, 1641 Anderson Ave.

The event, sponsored by Kansas State University's Johnson Cancer Research Center, is free and includes a presentation, lunch, a souvenir bag, educational materials and door prizes. It is supported by a grant from Komen Kansas.

The guest presentation will be "Not Your Grandmother's Mastectomy: Journey of a 'Previvor'" by Jacque Groves, a local nurse who chose to have a prophylactic, or preventive, mastectomy after learning through genetic counseling that she had a high risk of developing breast cancer.

Advance registration is required by Friday, Sept. 25, and can be made by contacting Marcia Locke at marcia@k-state.edu or 785-532-6705.

The Johnson Cancer Research Center advances Kansas State University cancer research, education and public outreach via programs made possible by private donations. More information about the center is on its website, cancer.k-state.edu.
