Tuesday, Aug. 26, 2014

MANHATTAN — Blues icon and Rock and Roll Hall of Fame member Buddy Guy will open the 2014-2015 McCain Performance Series at Kansas State University.

Guy will perform at 7:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 5, in McCain Auditorium.

Credited with bridging the gap between 1960s Chicago electric Blues and modern-day rock and roll, Guy is listed among the "100 Greatest Guitarists of All Time" by Rolling Stone magazine. His work has been called a key influence for guitar greats Eric Clapton, Jimi Hendrix, Jimmy Page and Stevie Ray Vaughan. Clapton has called Guy "the best guitar player alive."

Guy also is a 2012 Kennedy Center honoree.

Appearing with Guy will be 15-year-old Quinn Sullivan, whose guitar skills have already landed him appearances on "Ellen,” "Oprah," "Jimmy Kimmel Live!" and "The Today Show."

Tickets for Buddy Guy cost $24.50-$125, plus applicable taxes and fees, and are available now at the McCain Auditorium box office, online at http://www.k-state.edu/mccain, or by calling 785-532-6428.
