Clifton StrengthsFinder Expert to speak at Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design Student Symposium

MANHATTAN — Author and noted hope researcher Shane Lopez will be the keynote speaker for Kansas State University's 12th annual Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design Student Symposium at 10 a.m. Friday, April 22, in the K-State Alumni Center.
The author of the book "Making Hope Happen" and co-author of the statistical reports for the Clifton StrengthsFinder, Lopez is a Gallup senior scientist and research director of the Clifton Strengths Institute. Through his research, he examines the links among hope, strengths development, academic success and overall well-being. He collaborates with scholars around the world on these issues.
His presentation will focus on students' utilization of their strengths and talents as they transition into their professional careers. It is free and open to the public. A networking luncheon will follow; tickets are required and can be purchased at http://bit.ly/1ZOcrwp.
Other events associated with the annual symposium, offered by the apparel, textiles, and interior design department in the College of Human Ecology, include the Apparel, Textiles, and Interior Design Showcase of Excellence on Thursday, April 21, which includes a mounted exhibit and live runway show featuring work by Kansas State University students and Kansas students in grades 7-12.
