Goss Discovery Scholarship funds 10 students' study abroad trips

MANHATTAN -- Ten Kansas State University students have each received a $5,000 Goss Discovery Scholarship to study abroad for the fall 2013 semester.

Established and funded by Mike and Becky Goss, Westport, Conn., the scholarship is awarded to Kansas State University undergraduate or graduate students to study abroad for at least one semester. Ten scholarships are awarded for study abroad trips scheduled in the fall semester and 15 for study abroad trips scheduled in the spring semester. Preference is given to students who have graduated from a Kansas high school.

Students awarded the scholarship and their study abroad location are:

Rebecca Roeder, junior in communication sciences and disorders, Frankfort, Universidad de Belgrano, Argentina; Jaime Arreola, senior in psychology, Kansas City, Kan., University of Malaga, Spain; Elise Hosty, junior in social work, Lenexa, Semester At Sea, a shipboard program for global study abroad; Cajsa Larson, freshman in elementary education, Leonardville, Linneaus University, Sweden; Carolyn Fox, sophomore in agronomy, Manhattan, Federal University of Santa Maria, Brazil; Isaak LeHew, junior in psychology, Manhattan, Nagasaki University of Foreign Studies, Japan; Jacob Asnicar, junior in secondary education, Olathe, Universidad de Sevilla, Spain; Kathy Barron, freshman in American ethnic studies, Olathe, Liberal Arts Program, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil; Sara Brady, senior in marketing, Wichita, Johannes Kepler Universitat, Linz, Austria.

From out of state: Hannah Gordon, senior in art, Omaha, Neb., Danish Institute for Study Abroad, Copenhagen, Denmark.
