Save the date: Student homecoming committee starts planning for Homecoming Week, Oct. 21-27

MANHATTAN -- Twenty-five students are joining the committee in charge of planning Kansas State University's 2012 Homecoming Week. The new members join seven returning members and four appointed members who will organize events for the week, Oct. 21-27, which ends with the football game against Texas Tech on Oct. 27.

The Student Homecoming Committee is responsible for selecting and planning all homecoming events, creating rules and guidelines for the student competitions, promoting the week, and providing staffing for all events.

"The students have already started the planning process for the fall. One event we are looking forward to celebrating is our 10th annual 5K," said Megan Sherlock, associate director of student programs for the K-State Alumni Association and All-University Homecoming chair. "These students will work extremely hard over the next few months. They were selected because they are such a motivated, organized and creative group of individuals."

The appointed members of the committee include the two K-State student ambassadors, a representative from the Association of Residence Halls and a representative from the National Pan Hellenic Council.

Students serving on the 2012 Student Homecoming Committee include:

Kimberly Friedrichs, Andale, new member and daughter of Robin and Paula Friedrichs; Ivy Wellman, Belle Plaine, returning member and daughter of Michael and Melody Wellman; Jordan Fief, Bennington, new member and daughter of Larry and Sheila Fief; Macy Warburton, Cedar Vale, new member and daughter of Steven and Angela Warburton.
