Iconic Broadway show 'Jesus Christ Superstar' returns to K-State

Thursday, Jan. 11, 2024

MANHATTAN — The Broadway musical "Jesus Christ Superstar" returns to Kansas State University's McCain Auditorium with its 50th anniversary production at 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 31.

With lyrics and music by Emmy, Grammy, Oscar and Tony winners Tim Rice and Andrew Lloyd Webber, "Jesus Christ Superstar" is set against the backdrop of an extraordinary series of events during the final weeks in the life of Jesus Christ as seen through the eyes of Judas.

Appealing to both theater audiences and concert music fans, this production of "Jesus Christ Superstar" pays tribute to the historic 1971 Billboard Album of the Year while creating a modern, theatrical world that is uniquely fresh and inspiring. Reflecting the rock roots that defined a generation, the legendary score includes "I Don't Know How to Love Him" and "Superstar."

Tickets are available online at mccain.k-state.edu or at the ticket office in the McCain lobby from noon to 4 p.m. Wednesdays through Fridays. Tickets are also available by phone at 785-532-6428 during the same hours.
