Media advisory: Media arrangements for Feb. 6 Kareem Abdul-Jabbar lecture

LECTURER: Six-time NBA champion, best-selling author, motivational speaker and cancer survivor Kareem Abdul-Jabbar will give a lecture at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, Feb. 6, in Kansas State University's Bramlage Coliseum. The lecture is free and the public is invited, but tickets are required.
Abdul-Jabbar, one of the most influential and respected black men in America, is expected to address many topics, including social justice, sports and his personal testimony. The lecture is sponsored by Kansas State University's Black Student Union, Student Governing Association, Union Program Council and Kansas State Athletics.
LECTURE ARRANGEMENTS: Media planning to attend the lecture must email media@k-state.edu or call 785-532-2535 by noon Monday, Feb. 5, to reserve a seat. Media also may RSVP to Kansas State Athletics at klannou@kstatesports.com or 785-532-7977.
After RSVPing, media should pick up tickets for each attendee before the lecture. Tickets can be picked up at the Bramlage Coliseum Ticket Office between 8:30 a.m. and 5 p.m.
At the lecture, media can find a reserved area in the first eight rows of sections five through seven. An audio distribution box will be provided. News media photographers and videographers must remain in place during the entirety of the lecture.
NEWS MEDIA PARKING: Media parking will be in the west Bramlage Coliseum parking lot. No special parking permits will be needed. All media must enter the southwest doors of Bramlage Coliseum for a working bag check.
MEDIA AVAILABILITY: There will be no media availability with Abdul-Jabbar before or after the lecture.
CREDENTIALS: Although credentials are not required for the lecture, please bring your media identification with you in case it becomes necessary.
SECURITY: Kansas State Athletics' Clear Bag Policy will be in effect. Security measures and metal detectors will be in use. Media should be prepared to have camera bags, computer bags, etc., searched when entering Bramlage Coliseum. Only working bags are allowed; no purses are allowed. To allow time for bag searches, media should arrive as soon as possible. Doors open to the public at 6 p.m.
LECTURE TEXT: No prepared text of Abdul-Jabbar's presentation will be available.
SATELLITE FEED:No satellite feed of video or sound bites from the lecture will be available. There will be no livestream video.
