Building History

Pat Roberts Hall, completed in 2007 and named after U.S. Senator Pat Roberts, is home to the Biosecurity Research Institute (BRI). This state-of-the-art facility is built to meet Biosafety Level 3 (BSL-3) and Biosafety Level 3 Agriculture (BSL-3Ag) standards, providing secure laboratory spaces for research aimed at addressing biological threats, protecting agriculture, and preserving public health. The BRI supports food security, conducts research on crop and animal diseases, and offers exceptional training and educational opportunities. Administered through the Office of the Vice President for Research, the facility plays a crucial role in ensuring a safe food supply and preventing significant economic losses in the agriculture and food industries.
