If both student and attorney have not signed the agreement, the attorney is not representing you. The services of the attorney are free, however the cost of litigation are the responsibility of the student.

Presentations*

Student Legal Services has presentations on a variety of legal topics as listed below. K-State Student Organizations, Faculty, and Staff may request to schedule a presentation to your group. If you are looking for a legal speaker and do not see the topic you want covered, please contact the Student Legal Services office to discuss custom made options based on availability. Custom presentations must be scheduled at least 2 weeks prior to event.

Topics

  • Student Legal Services Overview- This presentation discusses what services the office of Student Legal Services provides and how to schedule a consultation
  • Fake Patty's Day. Real Fun. Real Consequences- This presentation discusses the most common crimes associated with this annual event and what it looks like to resolve those charges in court.
  • Legal Issues for International Students- This presentation reviews real world scenarios an international student may encounter: from driving, handling a traffic stop, buying a vehicle, and leasing an apartment.
  • Moving Into/Out of Off Campus Housing- This presentation gives helpful tips for success when moving into or out of an apartment or house off campus. Know your tenant rights in order to protect your best interests!

∗Presentations are given with the intent of providing educational general legal information. It is not a setting for the attorney to give specific legal advice in front of a large group of people. Your confidentiality matters! Scheduling a presentation does not create an attorney client relationship.
