12/04/2025 [IEEE-NANOMED 2025] Dr. Zhu attended IEEE-NANOMED 2025 in Hong Kong. He chaired two invited sessions, “Smart Platforms for Real-Time Biosensing, Neuroengineering, and AI-Driven Diagnosis” and “Microenvironments and Mechanistic Models in Cancer, Infection, and Regeneration.” He also reunited with his advisors, Pak Kin Wong and Cecil Ting-Hsuan Chen, along with alumni from Dr. Wong’s lab.

10/11/2025 [BMES 2025] Dr. Zhu and his undergraduates Ava Hornung and Amelia Koehn attended BMES 2025 in San Diego, California. They presented their posters "Visualizing cancer invasion in a tissue-engineered tumor-microvessel model" and "Real-time gene expression mapping in a tissue-engineered microvessel." Congrats, Amelia and Ava!

12/02/2024 [IEEE-NANOMED 2024] Dr. Zhu attended IEEE-NANOMED 2024 in Honolulu, Hawaii and reunited with his advisors, Dr. Pak Kin Wong (Penn State) and Dr. Cecil Ting-Hsuan Chen (CityUHK). He hosted an invited session, "Biomedical Technology for Decoding Human Disease", presenting the sciences and applications of micro- and nano-scale technologies for modeling biological systems, revealing fundamental dieseae mechanisms and addressing clinical applications.

10/26/2024 [BMES 2024] Dr. Zhu presented at BMES 2024 in Baltimore, Maryland. His work, titled "An Endothelial-Smooth Muscle Cell Bilayer 3D Microvessel to Study Human Arteriole Inflammation", showcased a 3D tissue-engineered human arteriole model, providing a novel and promising platform for studying the structure and functions of human arteriole, paving the way for drug development targeting arteriole disorders.
