Position Management

Position management is the ongoing work of writing, updating and organizing job duties and qualifications for each position at K-State. Accurate position descriptions, clearly defined qualifications and a consistent process for handling changes help ensure jobs are classified fairly, positions are compensated appropriately and units have the support they need as roles evolve.

Human Resources Compensation and Organizational Effectiveness (HR COE) provides resources to help leaders, managers, HR liaisons and employees understand how positions are evaluated, classified and adjusted over time.

Position descriptions, or PDs, are the foundation of position management. Learn more about outlining duties and responsibilities.

Jobs change over time, and sometimes those changes are significant enough to warrant a review of how a position is classified.

Learn when to request reclassifications and reorganizations, and who is involved in the process.
