Staff Pay Structures
Pay grades group jobs with similar market value using external salary data. When organized into well-designed pay structures, these grades provide a consistent framework for compensation across the university.
K-State's staff job architecture uses two formal pay structures: Structure A (Administrative) and Structure B (Research). Each job title within the job architecture is assigned to one of these pay structures and a specific pay grade. Every pay grade has an established minimum, midpoint and maximum pay rate that defines the full salary range for jobs assigned to that grade.
Human Resources Compensation and Organizational Effectiveness reviews position descriptions and determines the appropriate job title based on the position's duties and responsibilities. The determined job title corresponds to a defined pay grade and pay range.
