Welcome to the Office of General Counsel

We serve as the attorneys for Kansas State University on all legal matters. This involves providing legal advice, assistance and representation to University administrators and other employees acting on the University's behalf.

Our primary emphasis is on effective preventive law. It is our goal to serve the University by helping to ensure legal compliance in all areas and to minimize legal risks and costs to the University. We strive to give sound, timely legal advice and assistance to prevent legal problems and to effectively resolve any disputes involving the University. We have several education initiatives designed to proactively enhance client awareness of potential legal issues, compliance obligations and best practices.

We also provide vigorous representation of the University in matters that enter litigation or other dispute resolution arenas.

Our website gives an introduction to the services we provide and addresses some of the questions we are frequently asked.

We cannot give legal advice for personal matters. The Kansas Bar Association provides referrals for personal legal services.

Legal services for students are available in the Office of Student Life located in Holton Hall. See Student Legal Services.
