English Pathways

Starting in the fall 2026, K-State will offer the English course pathway.

Corequisite Courses

A student passing any of the multiple placement measures may take the standard course. Otherwise, the student must take a corequisite course alongside the standard course. Corequisite courses give timely background on the topic to promote student success. The gateway courses with corequisite at K-State are:

K-State English Pathways Gateway Courses with Corequisite Support

English Composition I
  • 18+ on ACT Reading AND ACT English
  • OR 500+ on SAT ERW (Evidence-based Reading and Writing)
  • OR 255+ Accuplacer Reading AND Writing
  • OR 3.0+ high school cumulative unweighted GPA after five or more semesters
  • OR 16+ ACT Reading AND ACT English AND B or higher (not B-) in most recent high school English course
  • OR 2.7+ high school cumulative unweighted GPA after 5 or more semesters AND B or higher (not B-) in most recent high school English course
  • OR GED® Score: 160
ENGL 101 Expository Writing I Support
Expository Writing I Support is the corequisite support course for ENGL 100 "Expository Writing I." The support course provides additional review of the background knowledge and foundational skills which promote student success in ENGL 100. The content of ENGL 100 is directly aligned with the course objectives of ENGL 100.

ENGL 101 is the KBOR English pathways corequisite course for ENGL 100 Expository Writing I. Students that do not meet any of the KBOR multiple placement measures must also enroll in ENGL 101 as the corequisite course to ENGL 100.
