April 20 is the deadline to complete Spring 2018 Graduation Requirements
Master's and doctoral students planning to graduate in Spring 2018 and participate
in commencement on May 11 must have all graduation requirements completed by this
Friday, April 20. Graduate program administrators, faculty, staff, and students should
thoroughly review graduation and commencement information and utilize checklists to ensure all requirements are completed by April 20. Students wishing to confirm
which requirements they have completed and any requirements that have not been met
should email their respective degree specialist to request a graduation check.
Graduate Faculty
Show your appreciation for K-State graduate students by volunteering to scoop ice
cream at the GSC ice cream social on April 24. The social will be held outside the
west entrance to Eisenhower Hall from 3:00-4:30pm.
Graduate faculty are encouraged to attend the Graduate School Spring Commencement
Ceremony on Friday, May 11 in Bramlage Coliseum. Hooding and non-hooding faculty who
are interested in participating are encouraged to register their attendance no later
than May 4. Academic regalia must be worn and may be reserved through the K-State
Campus Store.
The Commerce Bank and WT Kemper Foundation Distinguished Graduate Faculty Award honors
current members of the graduate faculty who are recognized nationally and internationally
for their outstanding scholarly achievements and for their contributions to graduate
education at the university. Recipients of the award will receive an honorarium, are
recognized during the fall Graduate School commencement ceremony and during a public
lecture to the campus community. Submission deadline is May 1.

Call for nominations: Distinguished Thesis and Distinguished Dissertation Awards
The Graduate School is now accepting nominations for the MAGS/ProQuest Distinguished Thesis Award and the CGS/ProQuest Distinguished Dissertation Award. This year’s award categories are 1) Engineering, Mathematics, and Physical Sciences
and 2) Social Sciences. Each graduate program may submit one nomination for the thesis
award and one nomination for the dissertation award. Please visit the award webpages
for more information. Nominations must be submitted to the Graduate School, 119 Eisenhower
Hall, or via email to Megan Miller (mmmiller@ksu.edu) no later than 5:00 p.m. on May 1, 2018.
Graduate students who have been allocated a GSC travel award for conferences and other
professional activities in June are posted on the GSC travel awards website.
Graduate Students
Through a series of professional development workshops and public engagement activities, fellows
gain effective science communication skills. The program runs May 2018-February 2019.
Application deadline is April 27 at 5 p.m.
