The K-State Commitment
K-State is committed to providing educational opportunities for all students. We are committed to our Principles of Community, which affirm the inherent dignity and value of every person. We affirm the value of human diversity for community.
DACA (Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) was initiated by the Obama Administration in 2012. Under the policy, certain undocumented immigrants to the United States who entered the country as minors can receive a renewable two-year period of deferred action from deportation and eligibility for employment.
Understandably, undocumented and DACA-mented K-State students may be worried about possible changes to DACA and other immigration policies. This is a time for our university family to pull together and support those who are working to build a better future for themselves. K-State supports Governor Kelly's amicus brief in support of DACA and joins the Association of Public and Land-grant Universities (APLU) in their statement (pdf) calling for swift congressional action.
We encourage students with questions or concerns to take advantage of the many services offered through the university found on this website.

K-State COVID-19 Updates & Financial Resources
The following financial resources are available to undocumented and DACA-mented students who are are encountering unexpected financial stressors at this time. Although our university has converted to limited operations in its commitment to protect the health and safety of everyone at K-State, we remain committed to providing assistance via distance.

Student Emergency Grant
The Student Emergency Grant exists to assist students with academic related expenses such as additional tuition/fees assessed, outstanding university charges, etc. that were unforeseen and have financially placed the student at academic risk. Generally, a Student Emergency Grant is awarded by the Office of Student Financial Assistance to students who have exhausted available federal and state aid resources. Submit the Financial Intervention Referral Form here to be considered.
K-State Proud Award
Students who have demonstrated extreme financial need or may need temporary financial assistance may apply for this award. Special consideration is given to students whose ability to continue and persist at K-State is in jeopardy. Students must have exhausted all other forms of financial assistance. Applications may be submitted throughout the year.
Cats' Cupboard
An on-campus resource committed to prevent food insecurity from being a barrier to student success. Students may receive nutritious food and/or simple kitchen equipment by visiting the food pantry in Manhattan or Cats' Corner in Salina.
Powercat Financial
A peer counseling service where help is given on personal finance topics such as budgeting, saving, how to manage credit, student loan repayment, etc. Students may request an individual counseling appointment to receive information on these important topics.
