Showcase of Belonging & Community at K-State

Kansas State University comprises a community of students, faculty and staff from varied backgrounds and identities.  We embody a wealth of talent, rarely showcased outside the classroom- nor shared across our academic communities.  The opening session is unique - we will introduce student groups and organizations that highlight collective artistic and creative skillsets in one-of-a-kind performances.  Attendees will enrich their understanding of what a sense of belonging at K-State truly means in a community that appreciates, respects and benefits everyone.

What You See Is What You Get
Mr. Nathan McClendon

How well do we know each other? Often our perception becomes the reality that dictates how we experience life. This session will expand the concept of diversity beyond groups of people to the individual person.  We will explore the universal process of how information is stored in the brain and used to interpret the world around us, including other people. Lastly, there will be recommendations for overcoming our misperceptions and biases.

Athletics Panel Discussion: Generational Perspectives on DEIB

This insightful session will include several generational groups’ viewpoints on DEIB from an athletics lens.  Varied interpretations of belonging, community, and identity will be explored.  Participants will become better equipped at understanding the significance of DEIB initiatives to foster mutual respect where everyone feels included, regardless of their demographic group.
