The Influence of Title IX Legislation on Women's Intercollegiate Athletics

This session will be presented by L. Marlene Mawson, who has been called “the mother of Kansas women’s athletics.” She is a member of the Kansas Athletics Hall of Fame, and the Female Athlete of the Year Award is titled in Ms. Mawson’s honor. Ms. Mawson is a longtime professor and administrator for KU Athletics, and the author of “Mawson’s Mission: Launching Women’s Intercollegiate Athletics at the University of Kansas.” Ms. Mawson will discuss her view of Title IX history.
