ITS Update (Gould)

  • See IT Update Blog for May 6, 2019.
  • It is one year since the Hale fire. The goal is to have part of first floor ready by fall.

Registrar's Office (Pfaff)

  • Spring 2019 End of Semester Processing
  • Upcoming dates – May 10 – grad apps close for S19; May 20 – first day of May intersession, class capacity report run for summer; May 18 – summer term begins, KSIS default term changes to summer, PERC runs. June O&E – Fall class capacity report run at beginning and end. July 15 close class scheduling for S20 term.
  • Final exams – May 20 – A group led by Last, met to discuss issues in rooms and times. Currently class start time range begin with 0:35, rather than 0:30. It is confusing for many. They are still working to see if changing it will be a problem. They put together a Final Exam Time Change form draft - let them know if you have feedback. Working through S19 final exam issues – hope to enhance some KSIS jobs to adjust for classes with 0 enrollment, comparing 25 Life and KSIS to reconcile differences. Group finals assigned to several rooms previously show as just one room, now showing “multiple” so students have better understanding. Looking for pre-checks to identify problems before beginning the scheduling process.
  • Incomplete policy – report is now available for Graduating students, can be run anytime to find Incompletes from F18 forward. Grade lapse job should be working. Incomplete extension report is being worked on.
  • Auditing courses – A survey went out to instructors asking for audit info for the past year. Waiting to compile the mass amount of data. Scott Schlender, Grad School, recently got two questions from over people over age 65, wanting to audit. He wants to know process.
  • Dismissal policy – is changing – total units that determine threshold of total hours for GPA will max transfer at 60 hours begins with F19.
  • Class scheduling updates – More changes in the course schedule are coming after the schedule is published. Are there things we can do to minimize this? They will open F/U scheduling on August 1 (earlier than usual), but still due Dec. 1. Tammie is hoping to develop longer timelines, open link earlier for certain people, and look at different software assistance to find solutions. McCammant said many issues are from within the colleges with new staff. Nielsen said this is a problem because it effects lots of students and it will probably get more attention with the restructure. Importance needs to be emphasized to faculty when scheduling is done. Maybe make list of non-standard class times and where student contact hours don’t match. Global campus classes came into the course schedule late this semester because of worry with staffing and funding.
  • Plan ownership in KSIS - to get rid of discrepancies with interdisciplinary programs shared between colleges. Previously courses were just assigned to one college. KSIS allows percentages of program so it is added if they know the percentage. Will be contacting colleges to get more information. Contacts – Don Boggs, Todd Goodson, Lou Benjamin, Andy Fund, Chwen Sheu or Eric Higgins, Brownyn Fees, and Lynn Ewanow
  • Annual catalog updates will publish June 1.
  • Curriculog Reduced Activity Period July 1-15 – closed down to new proposals. Committee member updates need to be done between August 1-15. Component definitions will be published.
  • Other – PUM 13 released and will be tested soon. May 17 – Nielsen’s retirement reception.

Undergraduate Admissions Updates (Blankley)

  • Matriculations and June O&E – matriculations start on May 29, Landon Lieker will be the contact, no holds will be added for incomplete records until July.
  • Search with eID is now available
  • Military Affiliation – will be added later this summer into application
  • Common Application – submitted our drafts and are building a demo app.
  • Admission and Scholarship Application Changes – KSN- identifies scholarships at non-university level. Currently when a student applies, they were asked to complete a scholarship app. This will no longer happen. Summer 2020 and later apps (life June 1) will have no scholarship tab. At the appropriate time they will be directed to KSN to apply. Everyone will be considered for university scholarships.
  • McCammant asked if there a way to remove P4S holds from students who applied to KSU earlier. Yes, they will work on that.

KSIS Projects/Enhancements Updates (Chih-Ching)

  • Search with eID – in KSU Advisor Center in Student Lookup page, and Student Services – Student. Also, if you pull up student with common name, eid is on there.
  • View permissions by Student – from Student Center or Records and Enrollment – Term Processing – View permission by student – shows who gave permission to add the class.
