Registrar's Office Updates (Pfaff)

Temporary suspension of university class attendance policy for missing first day of class to allow students to attend/view the eclipse. Drops will now be due Tues Sept 5th. Pence asked about how this would impact class attendance policies? Dandaneau – up to each professor to use just and professional discretion if a student is absent the first day of class.

Due dates for class scheduling for summer and fall 2018. Due date will be December 1st which is the past has been Dec 15th.

Cooper – Advanced credit from transfer institutions will show as EP grade and the transfer institution name on DARS report.

Other upcoming dates – Spring 18 class scheduling, original close date was July 17th, but will be extended to July 21st. Summer End of Semester processing will be Aug 18th. Fall 2017-Aug 1st students will see schedules in Connect. Aug 14th, fall graduation application will open.

Working on an electronic drop/add form. Almost ready for testing, may be asking for some help from colleges with testing.

Niedfeldt - Can a student drop Fall 17 classes now without a withdrawal form? A student can drop clasess up until first day of that term without a withdrawal form.

McCammet – Summer graduation diplomas, not showing until September causes some issues for students needing to start a Grad or other professional school in August. Several discussions about how the intercessions can extend the timeline. Cooper will check with staff and get back to group. Could there be an expedited process performed? Yes, there is one that exists, can be cumbersome. AG has some professional schools that will not accept a letter from the Dean’s office. Pfaff – Can the colleges clear them in less than 2 weeks? Majority said yes. There is a graduation committee with representatives from each college, Univ Acad Group, that could discuss changing the overall timeline for graduation checks.

Other Project Updates

Student Data Warehouse (Letourneau) – Meet monthly, still working on project as time allows. Have added some GPA fields and GRE source.

Curriculog (Pfaff) – Work continues, meets weekly. Course updates and curriculum updates. Working on new forms as discovered. Also adding new fields as discovered. Adding more steps as needed, etc.

SSC Campus (Cunningham, Dandaneau) – Thank you to Brad Cunningham for his work with this project. Provides great support! Interacts with EAB to push for things that will help higher education customers. Thank you to ISO and the technical support for all your work. Those with an advisor role have access to SCC which includes scheduling functions, text reminders to students, analytical and reporting tools, etc. Must complete a 10 minute training prior to getting access. Provost has signed on a 3 year renewal of contract with EAB and SCC. Student Life may be able to utilize.

Proposed change

Set class search results to 'view all' (Fund) – suggestion from students during O&E. Waitlisted showed at the top, so students thought they had to pick Waitlisted. Letourneau – If they use class search, shows All. If they do Browse Catalog, then only shows 5 at a page. Has emailed Pfaff and it could be modified. With the KSIS upgrade, there will be a Fluid ability called elastic search which allows the user to search with more fuzzy options. Will still make the change with the Browse Catalog functionality.

*Griffin asked that we please keep Di Murphy in our thoughts as her father is ill.
