Others attending:

Graduation Application Spreadsheet Status

Neither Barb Nagle or Jennifer Weaver were present to report.

New Graduation Application Details (John Letourneau)

Handout: Work Graduation Applications/Work Graduation App by Student
John reviewed changes made.

(Work Graduation Applications)

  • Email function will insert operator’s name for “From” and send BCC to operator.
  • “Comments” will change from “Add” to “Update” when comment has been added.

(Work Graduation App by Student)

  • “New Checkout Status” will include both “App approved” and “Degree approved” options.
  • When students apply, a row will be added to the Program/Plan stack and to the work area. When status is entered in work area, Program/Plan stack will update.
  • Security will allow view of all program/plans but operator can affect only own program.

John currently is working on revising application to single page format with other changes to simplify/clarify. App should be available to test in about five weeks, and available for students to use in January.

  • App will list all active plans, with indicators for apply (completing now), continue (completing later), and discontinue (not planning to complete).
  • Student will get email to confirm successful submission.
  • Can adviser’s name be added? Yes.
  • Complication: approval is at the program level. If multiple plans in program, approving one approves them all.

iSIS Upgrade Fit-Gap Analysis (John Letourneau)

Work in progress includes finalizing consultants, workspace, WIKI. iSIS Task Force involvement will begin in January.

  • Consider needs of non-degree students. Application and admission process is cumbersome for them.
  • David Delker will ask Yolanda to send out additional information to the Task Force.

Mid-term Progress Reports and Advising (Wilson)

  • There is no way for an adviser to know if progress report is satisfactory or missing when only unsatisfactory reports are listed.
  • Report format does not make it easy for advisers to determine which advisees have midterm progress reports.
  • Should “Midterm Grade Report of All Eligible Students” be made available to departments? Yes.
  • List of advisees cannot be sorted by undergraduate and graduate to allow effective use of email function.
  • Students have difficulty finding midterm progress reports – if they bother to look. (Some don’t read email. . .) John Letourneau is working on an iSIS “opening page” for messages -- this may be part of the upgrade.

Adviser/Advisee List Report (David Delker)

Reminder: send information about what we want report to do to Vicki Horan (vhoran@ksu.edu). David Delker will follow up with Vicki.
