Meeting Notes November 14, 2007- 10:30 A.M.

113 Seaton

Next Meeting:

Wednesday, November 28 at 10:30 am in 113 Seaton Hall

Attending:

Mike Crow (iSIS), Tilford (AG), Herspring (AR), Pumphrey (AS), Niedfeldt (BA), Cunningham (BA), Perl (ED), Larry Satzler (EN), Hightower (EN), Karen Pence (HE), David Delker (TC), Carol Shanklin (GR), Linda Morse (DCE), Doris Carroll (FS/AAC)

David Delker convened the meeting. A quick check around the table found most are concerned about progress on Class Schedule and about requisite checking.

  • Mike said the November 30 date for moving requisites is arbitrary and may be adjusted.
  • Move from CS1 to CS2 will be after the first of the year. A compressed timeframe for semesters will allow fast-forward testing.
  • For requisites, the decision to go live can be made department by department – all departments do not have to go live for fall semester. Let Mike know when requisites are ready to move.
  • The Class Schedule should take priority.

Mike then proceeded with the day’s priority topics.

Reports

  • Reports will be moved to production.
  • In CS1, go to KSU Development area.
  • Once security problems are fixed, we can run our own reports.
  • Kamana Sharma has developed waitlist report (report of students on waitlist on Day 7 before it is purged on Day 8).
  • Kamana’s last day with LASER/iSIS is December 12.

Permissions

  • Granting class permission is province of the instructor; entry of the permission is the province of dean.
  • Department permission will be tied to scheduler view role (has update capability).
  • Question: what about undergraduates seeking to enroll in graduate courses?
  • Question: how to manage permissions for distance adjunct instructors and distance students not in Manhattan?
  • Question: advising permission for athletic counselors? Mike has asked Athletics to formulate their questions, then he’ll meet with them.
  • Handout: College Permission Plan. College representatives were asked to meet with their deans to finalize each college’s plan for handling permission access. Access may be restricted to courses in College or (possibly) restricted to courses in department.

Date and Time for Next Meeting.

We will meet again on Wednesday, November 28, at 10:30 a.m. in Seaton Hall. (Happy Thanksgiving, everyone!)
