Fall semester prep

Transcripts will be discussed in August. Conversion of historical records will be a challenge.

Question: What are “3 C’s”? Admissions and Graduate School will present information about
“3 C’s.”

Transfer/DARS

The problem with iSIS not recognizing transfer course grades to meet requisites has been fixed. (See April 29th e-mail from David Delker.)

Adviser/Advisee Lists

  • Report will be migrated soon.
  • Question: is list management training available?
  • Mix of active and inactive advisees on list is a concern, especially for advisers who have several hundred advisees. However, some advisers want to keep inactive students on their lists.
    • If graduates are deleted, can Dept or DO add back? (Yes, but would have to be added each term.)
    • What happens to students who did not graduate, but are not returning? Those who withdraw? Those who are dismissed from the University? Readmitted? Can the list be based on term activation?
    • Purge cycle was discussed. Purge in Sept/Feb? Purge in Feb/June/Sept?
    • Should there be a box on the withdrawal form to check to request Enrollment Services to remove adviser?
    • For those who want to keep inactive students on adviser’s list, is KSOL an alternative?

Adviser Training for June Orientation & Enrollment

  • Is refresher training needed for advisers to prepare for O&E?
  • Neilsen: Preview sessions for O&E advisers on use of electronic catalog will be held on May 22 at 11:00 AM and 1:30 PM in Little Theater.

Holds

Problem: reapplying the adviser service indicator prevents students from purchasing athletic tickets through Marketplace. Mike is checking on changing impact of ADV service indicator to only disallow enrollment/drop/add/change and impact on Marketplace.
Question: what is the impact of various holds, e.g. Cashiers Hold – what does it prevent?

F08 Class Schedule

  • DeVault noted set-up errors in class schedule (e.g., inconsistencies in length of LAB sessions). If schedule is corrected and class has students enrolled, print out rosters and notify students. The corrections could cause class time conflicts, and iSIS checks for time conflicts only at time of enrollment.
  • Instructor changes: DO Schedulers can update instructors themselves. (Refresher instructions would be helpful.)
  • The S25 website is not active for requesting high tech classrooms.

Recording Assigned Adviser on Curriculum/Plan Changes

Perl reported that advisers were not being entered for curriculum/plan changes processed by the REG Office. When students change colleges, the colleges are unable to enter adviser assignments until change has been processed in REG Office.

  • It was reported that REG started entering ADV last week, however, colleges will have to figure out who is missing advisers and enter adviser information.
  • PRINT CLEARLY adviser’s name (and Emplid if possible) on Curriculum/Plan Change forms to assist REG in adviser entry.

Transfer Credit Report

Concern: Transfer credit report does not include course name.
Alternative: Run “What If” for UGDG in DARS for more complete transfer transcript.

    • Self Service
    • Advisement
    • (New Drop in Student)
    • Search for student
    • Select DARS and press “Change”
    • Check box for “What If” flag
    • Change Academic Program to UGDG
    • Change “What If Plan” to ADM-TRANS (transfer courses by school with transfer analysis) or ADM-TRANS1 (transfer courses by school)
    • Submit report, receive confirmation
    • Go to Results tab and refresh until report appears
