Scholarships

Blue Key awards more than $13,000 in scholarships each academic year. All donations go to helping current K-State Students. If you are interested in supporting K-State students, please consider donating to the Blue Key scholarship fund.

A short description and criteria for each scholarship offered can be found below.

  • Applications will open on Tuesday, January 17 at 8 a.m.
  • Applications will close on Wednesday, March 1 at 11:59 p.m.
  • Students will be notified if they will receive an interview by Friday, March 10.
  • Interviews will be conducted on Tuesday, March 28th from 5-8 p.m.

Scholarships Available:

The Bernard Franklin Opportunity Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate that is either an underrepresented or first-generation student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, and service. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about why you excel in these areas and how these qualities will be used in your future endeavors.

The Robert Lewis Sophomore Leadership Award

This is awarded to an undergraduate student that will be of sophomore standing as of Fall 2023, who has exhibited leadership at the high school and university level and has displayed extraordinary potential for future development and service to the university. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about your leadership roles in the past, present, and future, and why you selected each.

The Neal Atkinson Junior Leadership Scholarship

This scholarship is being awarded to an undergraduate student that will be of junior standing as of Fall 2023, who has demonstrated outstanding service. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about your service to the university community including the importance of leadership, citizenship, and moral integrity.

The Chester E. Peters Student Development Award

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student that will be of junior standing as of Fall 2023, who has contributed in an especially positive way to the development of other students. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about your outstanding qualities of leadership, citizenship, moral integrity, service, and how your university experiences have encouraged, supported, and participated in the development of fellow students.

Roy C. Langford Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship is given to an undergraduate student that will be of junior standing as of Fall 2023, who exhibits outstanding academic performance as well as financial need. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about how you've overcome financial challenges to succeed academically and how this scholarship would help you achieve your future personal and professional goals.

Greg Hardin Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship is being awarded to an undergraduate student who has demonstrated outstanding scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and service. Awarded with preference to students in the College of Engineering. Please include four short answer responses of 150 words or fewer each on how you have exceptionally demonstrated each quality of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and service.

The Walter Martin Memorial Scholarship

This is awarded to an undergraduate student who has exhibited outstanding qualities of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and service. Please include four short answer responses of 150 words or fewer each on how you have exceptionally demonstrated each quality of scholarship, leadership, citizenship, and service.

Blue Key Study Abroad

This scholarship is awarded to an undergraduate student who will be studying abroad for at least one semester during the next academic year. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about your decision-making process for studying abroad and how the experience will enhance your leadership skills.

Dr. Pat J. Bosco Graduate Student Scholarship

This scholarship is awarded to a current senior that will be a graduate student as of Fall 2023, who demonstrates financial need and has a career goal of student development through higher education. Please include an essay of 500 words or fewer about the impact you've had on students thus far and how that relates to your career goals in higher education.
