  • 6-8 inches total length
  • Found on dry, open, rocky areas
  • Active during day
  • Very fast
  • Feed on grasshoppers and other small arthropods
  • Males have bluish shading on their chins and bellies.

Interesting fact:

  • Although the prairie racerunner has both males and females, there are species belonging to this family of lizards that are all female and that produce offspring using parthenogenesis.
