Ground skink - Scincella lateralis

Description:
- 3-5 inches total length
- Found in leaf litter of forests and grassy areas
- Active during day
- Feed on small arthropods and earthworms
- The individual above has lost his tail recently and is just beginning to regrow it.
Interesting fact:
- Adult ground skinks are not much larger that hatchling Great Plains skinks
