On-campus or online, K-State Animal Sciences and Industry program offers two flexible options to match your passions and career goals. Customize your academic plan with courses, concentrations, minors, and certificates to create a path tailored to your interests.

Management and Industry Option: If you’re passionate about the breeding, feeding, care, and welfare of animals, this pathway is an excellent choice. It combines coursework in animal production, nutrition, and management with your areas of interest, allowing you to create a specialization tailored to your goals in fields like agribusiness, animal health, or livestock management.

Science/Pre-Veterinary Option: For students aiming to pursue advanced degrees, veterinary school, or research careers, this option provides a strong foundation. It emphasizes core scientific courses, including chemistry, physics, mathematics, biology, and microbiology, preparing you for further studies in animal science and related fields.

Applied Learning Requirement

K-State’s Animal Sciences and Industry program requires students to complete an Applied Learning Experience Overlay, ensuring hands-on education that bridges the gap between theory and practice. Research & Facilities

K-State offers exceptional research opportunities with access to departmental animal units, a leading veterinary school, and one of the nation’s top animal research labs, all within one-mile of campus. With 6,500 acres of research land and dedicated field facilities for beef cattle, dairy, swine, poultry, horses, and sheep, students gain practical, industry-relevant experience.

Animal Sciences and Industry

The K-State Animal Sciences and Industry department serves students, livestock producers and the animal and food industries through teaching, research and education. K-State ASI prepares students for careers in the animal and food industries. The curriculum includes the study of nutrition, reproduction, genetics, behavior, meat science and food science with production, management and agribusiness skills.
