An exchange student at Kansas State University is a student who comes to study at KSU for one semester or one year, from a partner university with which KSU has a reciprocal student exchange agreement.  Exchange students must be nominated by their home institution coordinator in order to be able to participate in the exchange program.  Exchange students pay tuition and fees at their home university, and are not required to pay for tuition and fees at KSU.  A list of KSU's reciprocal exchange partner universities can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/studyabroad/incoming_students/partners.html

GRADUATE ADMISSIONS: Students applying to study as a Graduate student must provide proof of English proficiency when applying to KSU.  More information on English proficiency requirements can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/grad/students/international.html.

UNDERGRADUATE ADMISSIONS: Students applying to study as an Undergraduate student are not required to provide proof of English proficiency when applying to KSU, but must instead provide a letter of support from their home institution coordinator stating that the student has sufficient knowledge of English to participate in regular KSU courses.  Students who do not have a sufficient knowledge of English to participate in regular KSU courses will be required to take English Language Program courses.  Students will be placed in English Language Program courses either by submitting a TOEFL, IELTS score, or by taking the English Placement Test upon arrival to KSU.  Students are required to take English Language Program courses at the level in which they are placed.

If you do not have room and board included in your exchange, yes, you must pay the fee.

If you have room and board included in your exchange, no, you do not have to pay the fee.

Maybe.  All international students will automatically charged for the KSU international health insurance.  However, students who have health insurance from their home country can request a waiver of the KSU heath insurance, at the beginning of each semester of enrollment.  If their home insurance policy coverage is sufficient, students will not be required to covered by the KSU international health insurance.  More information about this can be found at http://www.k-state.edu/isss/current/healthinsurance.html

The sponsor on the Affidavit of Financial Support must match the name on the supporting bank statement. If the money from your parents is already in your bank account then you are your own sponsor.

All students are required to arrive at KSU and check-in at the International Student Center by the Official Report Date.  See the semester calendar for the Official Report Date for the semester you will be arriving at KSU.

International Student Health Insurance: $520 per semester

If housing & meals is not included in your exchange: cost varies (Housing in a double room in the Residence Halls, with a 20 meal per week plan: $4,353)

Books: $250 (estimate)

Other expenses that may be incurred:

Housing if arriving before the official arrival date, or remaining after exams are complete: $30 per night on campus

Classes above the 15 credit maximum covered by the exchange agreement: $243.90 per credit hour plus any special course fees

Transcript: free if ordered before departure from the university (there is a fee if it is ordered after the student has left the University)
