About the Division of Student Life

The Division of Student Life is committed to the philosophy of "Putting Students First."

The Vice President for Student Life/Dean of Students enhances the K-State student experience by providing important recruitment and retention functions for the University community and supports students in their academic, personal, and professional development.

The division includes a variety of departments, programs, and resources that promote student success both inside and outside of the classroom.

Vision

Student Life programs will advocate, support, and prepare students to achieve academic success while maximizing their personal and professional potential as we become a top 50 public research institution.

Mission Statement

The Division of Student Life promotes student success through opportunities for student involvement experiences to strengthen personal and academic growth, leadership, professional development, and community engagement.

Goals
  1. Promote academic success to support and enhance student persistence
  2. Support students through advocacy and development of the whole student
  3. Provide opportunities for students to develop through an active and diverse student experience
  4. Challenge students to think globally and develop awareness, acceptance, and appreciation of personal and cultural differences
  5. Provide programs, environments, and facilities that are conducive to student learning and success

Division of Student Life Highlights

K-State Housing and Dining Services will welcome students to the new Wefald Hall and Kramer Dining Center in fall 2016. Kramer Dining Center was featured in Foodservice Equipment and Supplies magazine recently as part of its College Innovators series.

Powercat Financial Counseling is one of two recipients in 2016 of the Kansas State University Excellence in Engagement Award for its engagement to increase student financial capability via its Saltmoney.org (SALT) partnership and other financial education programs.

Associate Director Stephanie Bannister was selected as faculty for the Association of College and University Housing Officers- International South African Housing Training Institute. She traveled in April 2016 to Pretoria, South Africa, as one of four U.S. faculty to educate attendees about the student housing industry.

Mary Molt, associate director and assistant professor of hospitality management and dietetics, was recently elected to the Kansas State University Academy of Fellows in recognition of her work with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics.
