Risk assessment by National Research Council
On Friday, June 15, the National Research Council of the National Academies released its "Evaluation of the Updated Site-Specific Risk Assessment for the National Bio- and Agro-Defense Facility in Manhattan, Kan."
• The committee validates what we've long known: NBAF is critical for "securing the future health, wealth, and security of the nation" (page 1). Without NBAF, we can't do the type of work that will keep our nation safe and secure.
•The committee validates that the concerns about design in the previous report have been mitigated.
• K-State is committed to working with our elected officials to keep the process moving forward, since “securing the future health, wealth, and security of the nation” (as stated by the committee in the introductory paragraph) should be everyone’s top priority.
