How long has UGE been part of students' programs of study at Kansas State University?
UGE was first implemented as Kansas State University's program for general education in the Fall semester of 1997.
The program was approved by Faculty Senate in May of 1994. During the next three years, faculty members developed
UGE courses and the college UGE programs, which were approved by the UGE Council. ICCP was responsible for
inter-college communication regarding resource allocation and course scheduling.
What are the UGE Council and ICCP?
UGE is governed by three entities. The UGE Council is established and charged by Faculty Senate Academic Affairs Committee to review and recommend UGE programs and courses and to monitor the quality of UGE. ICCP is the Inter-College Coordination Panel, composed of associate deans whose responsiblities include assiting with the administration of the college undergraduate academic programs. Finally, a member of the provost's staff is designated to support UGE by coordinating activities with the UGE Council and ICCP and maintaining the UGE website.
How can I tell if a course has been approved for UGE credit?
All courses approved for UGE credit will be designated by a black diamond in the semester course schedule and will be designated as a "UGE course" in the Undergraduate catalog. An annotated list of UGE courses is kept updated on the UGE website. A list of the UGE courses available for the upcoming semester is provided during enrollment by clicking on the tab for Enrollment UGE Courses.
