The Asian American Student Union invites you to a Lunar New Year celebration, the Year of the Dragon, from 1-4 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 18, at the K-State Student Union's Forum Hall and courtyard. The free event will include fun activities, traditional performances and food.

Lunar New Year is a spring festival that is celebrated in many Asian countries. Historically, it marks the beginning of the spring. Now, it is seen as a time where families can reunite with each other, enjoy a comforting meal together and welcome in the new year.

The event is presented by the Asian American Student Union in collaboration with Union Program Council and other organizations, and it is open to the K-State campus and the Manhattan community.

The event will begin with paper crafting activities, a face-painting booth and free boba tea from Pandora Ice Cream. Then the main show will begin. The performances include traditional Chinese, Japanese and Vietnamese dances, contemporary performances of Asian culture, and a lion dance team, the main attraction of most Lunar New Year festivals. Finally, the event concludes with free food from Tasty China House.
