K-State again recognized by Campus Pride as one of the best universities in the nation

Kansas State University is one of only 30 institutions in the U.S. to earn a place on the Campus Pride Best of the Best list for LGBTQ+ students.
"As the nation's first operational land-grant institution, Kansas State University has always been committed to educational access for all," said Thomas Lane, vice president for academic success and student affairs and dean of students. "And as a learner-focused and people-centered institution, we value every member of our university community by working hard to maintain a safe environment where everyone can thrive."
The rankings are determined using the Campus Pride Index rating scale, a comprehensive national rating system that measures LGBTQ-friendly campus life. K-State has earned the top rating of five stars for creating a safe, welcoming environment for students, faculty and staff.
"Our student body is made up of individuals from a multitude of backgrounds and lived experiences," said Brandon Haddock, coordinator of the LGBT Resource Center. "That in and of itself requires us to build a network of support for our students, and we are truly committed to supporting our students and their needs every step of the way as they work toward their personal and professional goals."
Campuses on the list have all earned the five-star rating and at least a 90 score, on a scale of 90 to 100, for their inclusive policies, programs and practices. The campuses are scored in eight factors, including housing, campus safety, academics, student life, and recruitment and retention efforts.
"This is really about living out our reputation and commitment to providing one of the nation's premier educational experiences and delivering that to every single student we serve," Lane added.
