Geography graduate student recognitions

Several geography doctoral students were recently recognized at the annual meeting of the Association of American Geographers, or AAG, in Los Angeles, April 9-13. The meeting brings together thousands of geographers from around the world.

Melissa Belz won the doctorate student paper competitions for both the Asia Specialty Group and the Landscape Specialty Group of the American Association of Geographers.

Heidi Mehl received the American Association of Geographers Water Resources Specialty Group travel award for travel to the conference. She also was elected as the Water Resources Specialty Group student director for 2013-2015.

William Wetherholt was elected as a Rural Geography Specialty Group student director for 2013-2015.
