Beware of fraudulent unemployment claims, emails regarding Kansas Unemployment Benefit Card

Submitted by Human Capital Services

Since April 2020, many university employees have been impacted by fraudulent unemployment claims. This is not just a State of Kansas issue, but an issue unemployment departments in all 50 states are experiencing.

Human Capital Services has become aware that employees are now starting to receive emails regarding a Kansas Unemployment Benefit Card. The email indicates the following:

"There's an important security issue on your Bank of America Unemployment Benefit Debit Card that we need to verify with you. We are placing a temporary restriction on your debit card till your account has been fully verified."

If you receive this email, do not click on any of the links provided. Please forward the email to abuse@k-state.edu and then delete it.

HCS continues to notify employees when notices are received in our office and it is determined to be a fraudulent claim. If you have any questions, please email us at hr@k-state.edu
