Web of Science training offered

Submitted by Donna Ekart

K-State Libraries and the office of research and sponsored programs have teamed up to bring training to campus for one of K-State's most valuable research resources, Web of Science.

Offered Tuesday, Feb. 12, with sessions from 11 a.m. to noon and 1:30-2:30 p.m. in Hale Library's Hemisphere Room on the fifth floor, this training is intended for K-State students, faculty and researchers. You will learn how to use Web of Science, which includes science citation index expanded, social sciences citation index, and arts and humanities citation index, to utilize your research time more efficiently.

"We're very pleased to offer this training to the K-State community," said Adriana Gonzalez, department head for Faculty and Graduate Services, K-State Libraries. "Web of Science is such a rich resource; it will be invaluable for both faculty and students to learn the basics before diving in."

Specific instruction will be provided for:

  • the publication selection process
  • using the search interfaces for topic, author, source title, and address searching
  • advanced set and field combination searching
  • integration with the ResearcherID author identification product
  • emailing, saving, printing, or exporting your results to EndNote Web
  • saving a search history and creating search and citation alerts

K-Staters wishing to attend the training should RSVP to orsp@k-state.edu using the subject line "Web of Science" with your name, email and session time you will be attending. There is no cost to attend.

Questions about the training may be directed to Gonzalez.
