Traditional Relay Service training offered Sept. 15

Kansas Relay is a 24/7 service that allows individuals who are deaf, hard of hearing, deaf-blind, or have difficulty speaking to communicate freely with friends, family and businesses. Every day thousands of individuals benefit from the services offered through Kansas Relay. K-State employees can attend two training sessions on Sept. 15 in Room 127 of the Leadership Studies Building. The first session will be 10:30-11:30 a.m. and the second session is scheduled from 1:30-2:30 p.m.

Cady Macfee, Kansas outreach coordinator, will present the sessions on the different type of services provided by Kansas Relay. Macfee is hard of hearing herself and has benefited from several different types of relay services. In addition to sharing information about relay services available through Kansas Relay, she will share how individuals can get a specialized telephone through the Kansas Telecommunications Access Program.  

Participants of the session will:

  • Learn how the Kansas Relay Service not only benefits individuals who are deaf and hard of hearing, but benefits everyone.
  • Learn how to make and receive a relay call. 
  • Learn the different types of calls, as well as some tips on how to handle a relay call. 

There is no charge to participants, but registration is necessary to ensure adequate seating and materials. Participants may register through HRIS Self_Enrollment or by sending an email to Samantha Roberts at learning-develop-hr@k-state.edu. When sending an email, please include your name, department, employee ID number, course title and the course number, WTD210. Supervisors also may send an email to register student employees.
