Submitted by Natasha Rozhkovskaya

The Math Circle Seminar in the mathematics department will host a center for the the International Math Kangaroo Competition on March 16, 2017. Registration deadline is Dec. 15

More than 24,000 students participated in the competition in the U.S. last year. Eleven participants from K-State's center were recognized as all-national and all-state winners.

The competition is open to all students in grades 1 through 12. The 75-minute test is offered in 12 levels that correspond to school grade levels. Twenty-four questions are offered to students in grades 1 through 4 and 30 questions to students in grades 5 through 12. The competition questions, selected by the International Math Kangaroo committee, are interesting and challenging.

Each student will receive a competition booklet and a pencil on the test day. In addition, students will receive a T-shirt, a certificate of participation and a gift.

Students who earn at least 10 top scores at each level of participation will be awarded with gold, silver or bronze medals. Winners will be announced in May 2017. Also, in each participating state, first-, second- and third-place winners will be recognized at each level.
