K-State landscape architects to attend national conference

By Courtney Boman

A group of students from the landscape architecture and regional & community planning program, along with Stephanie Rolley, department head and professor; Katie Kingery-Page, associate professor; Alpa Nawre, assistant professor; and Chip Winslow, professor, will attend the American Society of Landscape Architecture annual meeting Oct. 21-24 in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Tim de Noble, dean, will host a special reception for all College of Architecture, Planning & Design alumni immediately following the society's alumni tailgate from 6:30-8:30 p.m. Oct. 22 at the National WWII Museum.

At the conference, Rolley will represent K-State at the society's administrators' meeting and participate in the Landscape Architecture Foundation board meeting. In addition, Rolley will conduct the LAAB Accreditation Workshop with Karl Von Bieberstein, Newman Jackson Bieberstein, and Kristopher Pritchard, from the society, Friday, Oct. 21. The workshop will cover a variety of topics to assist programs through the LAAB accreditation process.

Nawre will present in the "Water Infrastructure for the Livable City" session Friday, Oct. 21. The session will examine the opportunities and challenges of working across the board with consultants, government organizations and city officials to develop and implement better water management systems. Additional speakers on this panel include Herbert Dreiseitl, Ramboll Studio Dreiseitl; and Clark Wilson, U.S. Environmental Protection Agency.
