2014 New Student Convocation

The 2015 New Student Convocation is set for 5:45-6:45 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 23, at Bramlage Coliseum. As the universitywide kickoff to the 2015-16 academic year, the journey to commencement for our new students starts then and there!

This year's convocation features President Schulz and members of the president's cabinet; Provost Mason and members of the Council of Deans; Gregory Eiselein, director of K-State First; members of honoraries, including Sydney Ho, class of 2016 in Mortar Board, Zev Allen, class of 2017 in Chimes, and Abigail Friesen, class of 2018 in Silver Key; Corey Fortin, class of 2006, and Matt King, class of 2007, the Alumni Association's 2015 Distinguished Young Alumni award recipients; Zelia Wiley, assistant dean of the College of Agriculture; the Faculty Brass Quintet with Paul Hunt, James Johnson, Jacqueline Fassler-Kerstetter, Steven Maxwell and Craig Parker; and Mallory Diekmann, actress, and choir members Christian Blackburn, Katherine Cross, Kash Farney, R.J. Leonard, Paul Meissbach, Madison Moore, Stephanie Troyer and Kelly Urschel, under the direction of Jennifer Vellenga of the School of Music, Theater, and Dance. Steven Smethers, A.Q. Miller School of Journalism and Mass Communications, will serve as announcer.

For their essential support, many thanks are due to Housing and Dining Services and the Division of Student Life, as well as K-State Athletics, Division of Communications and Marketing, the K-State Alumni Association, Mortar Board and countless others who each year come together to help the university welcome students who are new to the Manhattan campus and for whom graduation success is key.

While the New Student Convocation addresses our newest undergraduate students, all are welcome to attend.  The Kickoff Pep Rally follows at 7:30 p.m. at Bill Snyder Family Stadium. For more information, see the Week of Welcome website, or contact Steve Dandaneau, vice provost for undergraduate studies, at dandaneau@k-state.edu or 785-532-1097.
