Women's studies professor publishes in international journals

Tushabe, associate professor in women's studies, published two articles in international journals.

The article, "What Africa is Possible Beyond Fifty Years," published in OFO: A Journal for Transantlatic Studies, addresses the role of self-critique in reshaping Africa's future. The article argues against "lazy knowledge," which re-inscribes colonial legacies, and it suggests systemic transformation and sustainability.

Tushabe's second article, "Memoirs of Motherhood: Reflections of Motherhood in Community," is published in Jenda: A Journal of Culture and Women Studies. The article centers pedagogical practices of motherhhod among the Bakiga of southwestern Uganda, and analyzes how indgenous perspectives of mothering can be a model for decolonization.
