Zelia Wiley, Anita Dille receive success award in Alabama

By Anna Armstrong

At the 72nd Annual Professional Agricultural Workers Conference Dec. 7-10, Zelia Wiley and Anita Dille were awarded the L.A. Potts Success Stories Award for their work and presentation with the Transfer Student Building Relationships to Internships and Diverse Group Experiences, or BRIDGE Program at Kansas State University.

The conference was at Tuskegee University in Tuskegee, Alabama. Transfer Student BRIDGE is a USDA, National Institute of Food and Agriculture, and Women and Minorities in STEM funded $114,000 grant designed to aid transfer students with research opportunities and mentoring in the agricultural field, along with some financial assistance and a personalized research mentor. The students get to present their research at a symposium at the conclusion of the semester. Since June 2012 there have been six successful cohorts. The program concludes August 2015.
