Helpful skills for stress management

Submitted by Dorinda J. Lambert

It is that time of the semester where we are all feeling stress. When overwhelmed, this stress can interfere with performance and even affect your health. To assist, the K-State counseling services has developed several resources to help.

For the short term, you can learn some great breathing exercises and stress management techniques.

For the longer term, faculty should direct their students to try one of these free self-paced online programs for learning new skills: Academic Anxiety Online Program, Stress Management Module, Stress Management Online Workshop.

In addition, the free, online at-risk training program is available for faculty and staff who would like to improve their skill in recognizing students of concern and help them get connected with resources. Using online avatar scenarios, you can hone your skills in the 45-minute course. What an engaging and worthwhile way to prepare for the next semester!

To take the at-risk course, please open an account using the enrollment key: ksu61

The counseling services staff is proud to make these programs available to help all members of our campus community be healthy and successful.

Have a happy holiday and a restful semester break!
