KBOR DETAILED ASSESSMENT OF STUDENT LEARNING REPORT

The purpose of the Assessment of Student Learning (ASL) report is to provide a continuous improvement process through meaningful assessment of student. Results from assessment of student learning guide collective actions for curricular change, better learning opportunities for students, improvement of teaching, and more effective academic support services.

Outline of Common Information for Detailed ASL by Department

This report is considered the Detailed Assessment of Student Learning (ASL) and is submitted to the College Dean for review and for review and feedback by the appropriate College Assessment Review Committee (CARC). The CUMULATIVE report will describe the results and activity since your last review (KBOR or mid-cycle (for Graduate Programs) through the previous academic year (for programs completing their first ASL, the report should include information since the original Assessment Plan was approved for the program). The report should include the following:

  1. Introduction
    1. College, Department, and date.
    2. Person(s) responsible for preparing the report.

     

  2. Overview of Assessment
    1. Summary of the Department’s/Program’s ORIGINAL approved Assessment Plan, including a list of the original approved Student Learning Outcomes (SLOs) (Include a copy of the original Assessment Plan in Appendix A)
    2. Summary of modifications made to the Assessment Plan during the previous four years.
    3. List of the current SLOs for the Department/Program
    4. Program Assessment Alignment Matrix (include a copy in Appendix B)
    5. List the website where the Program SLOs, Assessment summary, and Alignment Matrix for each degree program are located (within two clicks of the Department/Program front page).

     

  3. Assessment Strategies
    For each SLO, please describe:
    1. The measures used (approximately one-half of the measures used are to be direct measures, and at least one direct measure must be used for each student learning outcome) (Examples of direct measures can be accessed at http://www.k-state.edu/assessment/plans/measures/direct.htm ).
    2. The timetable for the assessment strategies
    3. A description of the method(s) in which the measures were administered.

     

  4. Assessment Results
    Describe the results of the assessment strategies, including, but not limited to:
    1. The specific quantitative and qualitative data collected during the review cycle
    2. The sample of students from whom data were collected during review cycle
    3. Other results or outcomes from the assessment strategies.

     

  5. Review of the Assessment Results
    1. A) Describe the process by which program faculty reviewed the results and decided on the actions and/or revisions that were indicated by those results.

     

  6. Actions and Revisions Implemented
    1. A) Describe the actions and/or revisions that were implemented in response to the assessment results and review of the results by faculty.

     

  7. Effects on Student Learning and Future Plans
    1. Describe the effects on student learning of the actions and/or revisions that occurred during the review cycle.
    2. Describe the plans for the next ASL cycle. All changes to the ASL plan should be clearly justified relative to assessment results, data, and actions described in this report.
