Helpful Hints for your Mortar Board Application
Greetings and Welcome to the Kansas State University Chapter of Mortar Board!
The Mortar Board National Senior College Honor Society, founded on the values of scholarship, leadership, and service, models our beliefs based on assisting others. Founded in 1918, the Kansas State Mortar Board chapter contains a group of 38 of the best and brightest men and women from the K-State campus. This organization allows students to step out of their comfort zone while exemplifying some of our greatest leadership attributes on our campus and throughout the Manhattan community.
At the 2011 Mortar Board National Conference in Chicago, the Kansas State XIX Chapter was honored with the Mortar Board Golden Torch Award for our chapter's outstanding year. This was a huge honor for our chapter as only 24 of the 229 national chapters received the Golden Torch recognition. The continued determination and achievement earned Kansas State's chapter our ninth consecutive national award. This year already has the makings to be another high-achieving year for the Kansas State Mortar Board chapter as we were able to raise over $5600 for First Book, Mortar Board's national philanthropy. This amount ranks us second in fundraising nationally, and is a new K-State record!
The Mortar Board Senior Honor Society allows members to serve something larger than themselves. Mortar Board has been one of the most dynamic and exciting organizations that I have been involved in, and has definitely made my senior year here at K-State more rewarding! I encourage all of you to look into Mortar Board and consider applying for your senior year.
